RV Adjustable Bed:Â Two independently operated adjustable beds.
Custom Adjustable Bed– Doppleflex MX2 All-Slat adjustable bed with two motors for each bed
Platform is 72 X 78 inches. Factor out air gap on both sides of 1 inch so the back of the beds will not graze the window valences and provide 1 inch for the foot section to avoid the cabinet when platform is slid in. Net Platform footprint 70 X 77 inch.
Two custom half King adjustable beds each 34.5″ x 77″. To lift platform for storage access, cut back external frame 29.5 inches. (Platform hinge location is 29.5 inches from headboard). Cut 5 inches from foot of external frame so that the motor location will not interfere with the hinge. Add extension 3-4 inches to head section to offset 5 inch cut at foot section. This platform (with the adjustable beds and mattresses) can then be raised normally to access the storage area.
Both adjustable beds with Normal adjustability (head-back and knee can be raised separately).

Yong, you installed a bed in our Tiffin 34PA a while ago. We are on our first trip since installation, and I wanted to tell you just how wonderful the bed is. We’ve had our motor home since 2017 and have traveled 40,000 miles in it. I have never had a full night’s restful sleep since we’ve owned it. On a 2 1/2 month trip with the new bed, I have slept extremely well! I would recommend your bed to anyone looking for a comfortable bed that gives you an outstanding night’s sleep. Thank you so much!

Note that there are glide rails on the left and right of the platform to keep the original mattress from sliding off. We had factored them out by reducing the platform footprint by an inch on each side, so the adjustable beds fit correctly on the platform. The storage accessory bags on each side of the platform were left in place with the adjustable beds screwed on top of the straps.

The edge of the platform was about 2 inches from the stone side tables and window valences so the raised head/back section would not graze the window valences.

Plenty of walk-around space when both sliders are moved apart. When the sliders are brought in, the foot section is recessed under the cabinet. We measured that ingress from the platform to the underside of the cabinet as 13 inches. Our total height of the adjustable bed (4.5 inch deep) and mattress (7.5 inch thick) is about 12 inches so was perfect!

The foot section of the adjustable bed also had an inch of clearance from the cabinets when the slides were brought in.

We checked that the adjustable bed’s foot section did not hit the left side of the cabinet when the slides were brought in. There was a possibility as the right and left ends of the platform have indented corners to prevent the shins from hitting sharp corners. In our case, we blunted the corners of the adjustable beds for the same reason. See photo below.

Above photo shows the corner of the platform that has been cut off to avoid the shins. We blunt the corners of our beds for the same reason.

The head of the adjustable bed is elongated with a special section. When raised, the head section raises in an arch and avoids the underside of the headboard. Note that that head section is offset about an inch so the mattress will also avoid the headboard when raised.

There are four L-shaped brackets that are screwed on the inside of the frames and the platform. We normally install them prior to shipping so the customer has to only screw the brackets onto the platform. Here we are moving one bracket from the corner to the section of the platform where it can be attached.

We are securing the transformers with zip ties. The transformers can be installed in the storage compartment or, because they are low-profile, secured under the slat sections that do not move. As is done here. The transformer cable is connected (see above green color connector connected to RCA jack at the lower half of the motor). The upper black box is the receiver and control unit which is attached to the top of the motor with a multi-prong connector. We preinstall that box prior to shipping. The red tubes protect two revolving steel shafts which rotate the shafts that raise and lower the adjustable sections.

The slats are moved aside to gain access to predrilled holes on the inside of the frames to secure the side stoppers that prevent the mattresses from slipping off.

There are two side stoppers on each bed, on the sides of each adjustable bed. They are hooked into two predrilled holes. Screws are supplied to screw each side stopper on the inside of the frame.

Here we are in process to bring in the bed and cabinet section together to confirm that the mattress will slide under the cabinet.

You can see that although the mattress/bed is not completely slid in, that the mattress will enter the ingress smoothly.

Ready to continue on their adventure!
