Not only do my wife and I now have the ability to adjust as we like individually but the bed was built in such a way that we did NOT lose the storage and access to mechanicals beneath. RV Adjustable bed: Custom King Doppelflex MX2
Custom King Doppelflex MX2 TWO-MOTOR ADJUSTABLE BED SYSTEM Platform is 72 x 79 inches. Have offset 2 inch on both sides to avoid stone table and window valence when adjustable bed back is lifted up. Offset 2 inches of headboard that projects out. Net Footprint is therefore 68 x 78 inches. Each adjustable bed (33.5″ x 77″). Piano hinge to lift platform to access storage is 29.5 inches from the headboard. To continue to access the storage compartment, cut the external frame 29 inches from the back of the adjustable bed. The remaining external frame is screwed on the lower platform with four L-shape brackets for each adjustable bed that are pre – installed. Selected Default Adjustable feature to allow the head to raise up first without moving the lumbar/shoulder. Side sleepers love it as the shoulder is not disturbed for side sleeping.
– Some people with GERD/Acid reflux, prefer to sleep on their backs and do not like the head to be tipped forward. The ‘Straight Back ” option addresses that desire for a flat head/back motion.

Casy installed it by himself. He and got the bed dimensions just right and we compared it with other Newmar installations to double check before custom making the beds.
Notice the clearance of the head sections from the window valences. Perfect! And clearance between the beds in the center (about an inch) so they do not rub against each other and provide some give for the two mattresses lying side-by-side as they are held in place by the side stoppers on both sides.
Separate adjustments for each mattress/bed. Mattresses fit with enough give to slide against each other in the center to allow the adjustable beds to move smoothly against each other.
