RV Adjustable bed: Custom King Doppelflex MX2
Custom King Doppelflex MX2 TWO-MOTOR ADJUSTABLE BED SYSTEM (29.5″ x 77″. Piano hinge to lift platform to access storage is 30 inches from the headboard. To continue to access the storage compartment, cut the external frame 31 inches from the back of the adjustable bed. The remaining external frame is screwed on the lower platform with four L-shape brackets for each adjustable bed that are pre – installed. This allows the lower platform to be lifted up, as per normal, to access the storage area, without the whole adjustable bed being lifted off the platform. For further information, click here: https://luxuryrv.axelbloom.com/pages/rv-installation-guide-for-adjustable-beds.
In addition, both adjustable beds have the default setting where the the head section raises up first without moving the lumbar/shoulder. Side sleepers love it but some people with GERD/Acid reflux , prefer to sleep on their backs and do not like the head to be tipped forward. The ‘Straight Back ” option addresses that desire for a flat head/back motion. The knee /leg section raises separately in both cases.

“Yong – just wanted you to know we love the bed. My back feels a lot better and i don’t snore as much. Thank you for all your help.

The Beginning. Four boxes delivered by FedEx.
Step One. Placing the adjustable bed on the platform. Note that we made the width of the bed to fit the lower section of the platform. The upper width is about 72; the lower width is 60 inches. This allowed easier access to the left side of the bed. If he wished to make it wider, he could have replaced the lower platform with a wider platform or removed the platform entirely and placed three cross beams on the frame and placed our adjustable beds on top of the three cross beams as support.
Ed cleverly placed his own piece of wood as a spacer between the adjustable beds so the inside bed frames do not rub against each other. He also screwed down the supplied L-shaped brackets onto the platform (four per bed frame. You can see them below the black rod) so the bed frames would not shift when the platform is raised for storage access.
This shows where the platform hinge is located to raise the platform. We cut the external frame of our adjustable bed from the head to this hinge location so the lower remaining external frame is screwed on the lower platform which is raised for storage access.
This shows the lower section of the adjustable bed where Ed removed the slats to place the transformers (white plastic boxes) on the platform and under the slats. Most customers place the transformers under the platform in the storage compartment but Ed preferred to keep the transformers away from items stored in the storage compartment.
Before Bill stored the transformers under the slats, he installed the side and foot stoppers and made sure everything was lined up properly. Note the foot stopper was installed just before touching the cabinets at the foot when the slider was brought in.
The back of the beds have been raised. Note that the external frame has been cut from the back so the remaining external frame is screwed on the platform that can be raised normally with the adjustable frame following the bend of the platform. See below.
You can see how the lower platform is raised high but the adjustable bed mechanism is not affected and the head section can bend with the overall structure.

Finally the mattresses are placed on top of the adjustable beds. Ready for Prime Time! The mattresses were custom made to fir the adjustable bed dimensions. Held in place by the foot stoppers and side stoppers.
The view from the top. See how the sides of the mattresses are comfortably away from the window valences so they will not graze them.
A panoramic view!
Beautifully covered!
