RV Adjustable bed: Custom King Doppelflex MX2
Original Platform is 72 x 80 inches. Set aside air gaps of 1.5 inches on both sides to avoid window valence and side table and shorten length to avoid 2 inch head board results in foot print of 69 x 78 inches. Custom King Doppelflex MX2 TWO-MOTOR ADJUSTABLE BED SYSTEM (each 34.5″ x 78″). Piano hinge to lift platform to access storage is 30 inches from the headboard. To continue to access the storage compartment, cut the external frame 31 inches from the back of the adjustable bed. The remaining external frame is screwed on the lower platform with four L-shape brackets for each adjustable bed that are pre – installed. This allows the lower platform to be lifted up, as per normal, to access the storage area, without the whole adjustable bed being lifted off the platform. For further information, click here: https://luxuryrv.axelbloom.com/pages/rv-installation-guide-for-adjustable-beds.
In addition, both adjustable beds have Standard head/back/knee adjustability. This allows the head to raise up first without moving the lumbar/shoulder). Side sleepers love it but some people with GERD/Acid reflux , prefer to sleep on their backs and do not like the head to be tipped forward. The ‘Straight Back ” option addresses that desire for a flat head/back motion.
RV Mattress model: One DW 800 mattress medium firm to the comfy. Second DW 200 firm (not hard) mattress. Each 35 x 78 inches

Customer: Jim and Cheryl Cash

Started by moving aside the existing mattress. Beautiful wood work for floors and cabinets.

Placed each adjustable bed on platform and decided to place the transformers and surge protector (white units) in the mid section, under the slats, instead of in the storage compartment since Jim has a full storage compartment.

Overall view of the two beds side by side. The red bars are plastic covers to protect the hands from steel shafts which spin to move the gears of the left and right (hidden shafts which raise the moving sections of the bed).

View of the rear toilet (there is another one just before the bedroom).

We slid in the bed frames to confirm that the foot stoppers would be low enough to slid under the two left and right cabinets and table top. We later realized that the height of the mattress was about 2 inches too tall to avoid the undersides of the two cabinets. So the customer plans to lift the foot of each mattress when sliding in the bed.

Screwing on the two foot stoppers.

We provide four L-shape brackets to secure the beds to the platform.

We used the 120 V power outlet from the right side cabinet. This one has two outlets so we ran the power cable for the left bed over the fixed sections of the bed from the right to the left to connect with the motor of the left bed.

Another L-shape Bracket to secure the bed to the platform.

We discovered that the window valences on both sides were very close to the side stoppers and the mattresses. We were able to remove the valences to avoid grazing them but the customer decided to keep them in place.

We moved the side stoppers which are normally beside the head, to a lower position beside the shoulder, to provide more room for the side stopper to graze the window valence.

The two white transformers for the two beds are on the installed side-by-side and strapped down with zip ties so they will not move around. The black wireless control box for each motor is also zip tied in the center.

The main motor for each bed is located on the left side of the adjustable frame. In this photo, it is the black unit attached to the lower frame. At the very end of the motor(right of motor) is the location to plug in a small circular connector of the white cable to provide power to the motor.

Not essential but we strapped down the foot section where there are two black plastic feet with cups that pivot on a black rod. The feet provide support when the foot platform is up, just in case a person accidentally sits on the foot section when it is raised.

Job complete! The sliders for the double slats are set in a medium firm setting. (Closer is softer; further apart is firmer). We added six extra double slats for each bed for a total of twelve double slats.

Ready for rest!
