RV Adjustable bed: Custom King Doppelflex MX2
Custom King Doppelflex MX2 TWO-MOTOR ADJUSTABLE BED SYSTEM Platform is 72 x 78 inches (from headboard). Each adjustable bed (34.5″ x 77.5″). Piano hinge to lift platform to access storage is 29.5 inches from the headboard. To continue to access the storage compartment, cut the external frame 30 inches from the back of the adjustable bed. The remaining external frame is screwed on the lower platform with four L-shape brackets for each adjustable bed that are pre – installed. This allows the lower platform to be lifted up, as per normal, to access the storage area, without the whole adjustable bed being lifted off the platform. For further information, click here: https://luxuryrv.axelbloom.com/pages/rv-installation-guide-for-adjustable-beds.
Selected default to allow the head to raise up first without moving the lumbar/shoulder. Side sleepers love it. Some people with GERD/Acid reflux, prefer to sleep on their backs and do not like the head to be tipped forward. The ‘Straight Back ” option addresses that desire for a flat head/back motion.
RV Mattress model: Two Doppelmat mattress medium firm to the firm. Each 35 x 77.5 inches
RV Model: 2016 Newmar Dutch Star
Location: Norco, CA.
Customer: Richard and DeDee Henry

Started with platform that had a hinge location about 29.5 inches from headboard. Richard wished to maximize his mattress width and removed the window valences on the right and left of the platform so they would not interfere with the head/back raising and grazing the valences.

Note that the side window valence has been removed. Richard also later removed the plastic tray at the bottom of the window valence.

The platform has been raised to make holes for the power extension cable to travel from the top of the platform where the motors will be located to the power outlet on the right side lower section of the bed frame. See next photos for detail.

Power extension cable snaked from side power outlet.

Tapping the 120 V outlet on the side. Each adjustable bed requires only 50 Watts to operate so one outlet is sufficient to power both adjustable beds.

Placing first adjustable bed on platform.

Note that we placed the side of the adjustable bed on the edge of the platform.

To install the side stoppers (which prevent the mattresses from sliding off), we set aside two sets of slats that cover the pre-drilled holes on the inside of the frame where the stopper is hooked and screwed on.

Note the location in the interior of the frame where the two pre-drilled holes are situated. This is where the side stopper is hooked.

Hooked side stopper. Screws are provided to screw the side stopper to the frame where the hooks are located.

Removing slats where the cabling is installed to connect the two motors to the transformers and finally the extension cord.

Running the power cables so they do not interfere with the moving sections of the adjustable bed.

Strapping the transformer so it will not slide around with zip ties.

Making the cables secure and tidy.

Notice that the two adjustable beds are purposely made narrower than the platform width so they do not rub against each other in the center and they is wiggle room for installation. Typically try to plan for a one-inch center air-gap.

See the inner two holes that have been pre-drilled to install the side stopper. There are two side stoppers on each side: one at the ankle and the other beside the neck position.

Side stoppers in position and ready for the screws to be drilled (only half way) to secure to the inner frame.

All cables strapped down.

The motors are located on the left of each adjustable frame. The green color connector is for the cable from the transformer that needs to be inserted at the bottom of the motor as shown above.

The foot stopper is typically screwed on the top of the foot section as shown. In this case, after we did so, because the foot section slides under a table top, we moved the foot stopper under the foot section to provide more space to avoid the underside of the table top.

You can see the upper side stopper (beside the neck region) and lower stopper (beside the ankle) have an air gap from the window valence and side table to avoid grazing them.

We flipped the foot sections to gain access to screw the inner L-shape brackets to the platform. You can see one bracket on the right side of the photo.

Mounting the L-shape brackets. there are four for each adjustable bed. All in the lower section of the adjustable bed.

Screwing down the L-shape bracket at the foot location.

Completing the screw down of the L-shape brackets.

Sliding in the foot section under the table top. Decided to relocate the foot stoppers and screwed them on the underside of the foot section just to gain an inch of further clearance.

First time on the bed! Fits perfectly. Houston we have Lift Off!

Head section up 45 degrees; knee section up 4 inches and relieving the lumbar. Three memory settings using the wireless controller.
