RV Adjustable bed: Custom King Doppelflex MX2
Two independently operated 2 – motor custom Half – King Adjustable system ( 35 X 78 inch) screwed on 72 X 77 inch platform in four places with L-shape brackets. Piano hinge to lift platform to access storage is 30 inches from the headboard. To continue to access the storage compartment, cut the external frame 31 inches from the back of the adjustable bed. The remaining external frame is screwed on the lower platform with four L-shape brackets for each adjustable bed that are pre – installed. This allows the lower platform to be lifted up, as per normal, to access the storage area, without the whole adjustable bed being lifted off the platform. For further information, click here: https://luxuryrv.axelbloom.com/pages/rv-installation-guide-for-adjustable-beds
In addition, both adjustable has the head and back sections set up to move in one plane; the other adjustable has the default setup. The default is to allow the head to raise up first without moving the lumbar/shoulder. Side sleepers love it but some people with GERD/Acid reflux , prefer to sleep on their backs and do not like the head to be tipped forward. The ‘Straight Back ” option addresses that desire for a flat head/back motion.

Installation completed!
This installation was done by Axel Bloom in Los Angeles. To start with, we located a power source in the storage compartment.
To raise the platform, we had to release the struts.
There is a clip that holds the strut end.
The round clip is tricky to remove and install.
Made a hole in the platform to run two transformer cables from the storage compartment to the two motors.
One adjustable placed. Made one inch longer as we could fit a longer mattress than the platform length as the slider came in such that there was 4 extra inches before the platform foot section touched the dresser.
There is a 1.5 inch gap between the side of the adjustable bed and the side table so when the mattress is raised from the back, it will not be blocked by the window valence or side table.
There is also a one inch gap between the adjustable beds so they do not rub against each other and for wiggle room during installation.
The right side has a good air gap between the mattress and the side table.
Note how the foot and side stoppers hold the mattress in place when the back is raised.
The left gap is adequate between the mattress and the side table.
Note that when the back is raised, the mattress cover folds and fills in the air gap but the material is smooth and luxuriously soft so it does not prevent the adjustable bed being raised.
Another view when the left foot section is slightly raised and the right back is raised.
The right back is raised. This has the optional lifting ability for the head and back to raise together so it is raised in one plane. The default is such that the head section raises first (leaving the shoulder undisturbed) and then the back is raised. Here, this customer preferred to have it raise like the adjustable bed they have at home.
Finally, relaxing in bed!
