RV ADJUSTABLE BED FOR 2026 NEWMAR BAY STAR 3225 BY AXEL BLOOM BEDS

V Adjustable bed: Custom King Doppelflex MX2

Custom King Doppelflex MX2 TWO-MOTOR ADJUSTABLE BED SYSTEM Platform is 72 x 80 inches. Offset 2 inches of headboard that projects out. Net Footprint is therefore 72 x 78 inches. Window valences were projecting out over the platform and potentially interfering with the head raising.  To allow the head and back sections to be raised without grazing the window valences, we created an air gap of 1.5 inch from the adjustable frame to avoid grazing the valence. This then allowed the beds to enjoy the maximum widths. Each adjustable bed (32.5″ x 77.5″). Piano hinge to lift platform to access storage is 30 inches from the headboard. To continue to access the storage compartment, cut the external frame 30.5 inches from the back of the adjustable bed. The remaining external frame is screwed on the lower platform with four L-shape brackets for each adjustable bed that are pre – installed. This allows the lower platform to be lifted up, as per normal, to access the storage area, without the whole adjustable bed being lifted off the platform. Added 4 extra double slats for each bed for total of ten double slats per bed for extra firmness adjustment.

Customer selected one bed with default setting to allow the head to raise up first without moving the lumbar/shoulder. Side sleepers love it. The second bed had a “Straight Back” Option. Some people with GERD/Acid reflux, prefer to sleep on their backs and do not like the head to be tipped forward. The ‘Straight Back ” option addresses that desire for a flat head/back motion.

We have had 9 motorhomes in the last 40 years. Not one had a really good bed.  We slept so well in our Axel Bloom bed(s). The RV world has really needed Axel Bloom beds. Your beds are so comfortable everyone that knows about them should own them.

Hi Yong,
I made a full day out of my installation project. But I took my time and had fun. It really wasn’t difficult but does take some tools and some basic carpentry ability. I also got a few other things done in our motorhome too so I would estimate my real work time at 4 or 5 hours.  And we both love the bed. It is super comfortable and the perfect solution for us.
I really think every RV manufacturer should make your beds an option. We have been married 47 years and had 9 motorhomes.  We also had a trailer and a fifth wheel. We traded 2 because they were just not comfortable to sleep in.  5 of our units wouldn’t have had room, but we would have bought different rigs if Axelbloom beds had been an option. We have been sleeping on a Temperpedic adjustable bed for 13 years at home and this bed is at least as comfortable and not as crazy expensive as Temperpedic. Being able to have you custom build for our space was a crucial part of our success. Our other option would have been to remove our valances and use a very thin mattress to fit under the closet with slides in.  We are really excited to know we can travel and camp without sacrificing good sleep. Thanks so much for all your help. It has really been fun working with you on this project. I truly appreciate your enthusiasm and care you showed for us as customers.
I sent some photos much like ones you have seen before. But a few show how our configuration worked particularly well. You will see that both sides of the bed clear the valances by about an inch. You will see how we used a 1-inch piece of wood to allow us to attach the foot stoppers under the rail and give the clearance we need to still allow the bed to slide under the closet with the slides in. We were able to get a nice, neat wiring connection made, but this was the hardest part of the installation because of the tight quarters. The last thing we did was use some foam pipe insulation tubes to attach to the extra platform left by making our beds a little narrower. This was probably not a necessary step, but it may save a few bruises on our knees. Pool noodles would work too but the pipe insulators come already split down the middle.
We put blue fitted twin bottom sheets on the mattresses to complement our RV Superbag. The Superbag is a product like we have used for 40 years, and it will really work well with our Axelbloom bed.
The bottom line is – Axelbloom gets a 10 out of 10 and you get an 11. Thanks so much Yong.

Completed installation with mattress cover!

The very start of the project. Customer has placed  the Normal/Default bed section on the platform. This is askew position that is corrected later (see below).

Bed has been moved to position. Note that we strapped the moving foot section from flinging up when being carried. Many of the side and foot stopper parts are wrapped in plastic and zip tied to the slats. Both straps should be cut to release the mechanism and parts.

Note that the external frame has been cut at the hinge location (30 inches from top of external frame) to enable the adjustable frame to be folded so the storage area can be accessed normally by lifting the lower platform.

Here the slats have been removed to make it easier to attach the green connector of the power transformer to the motor and later attach the side stopper.

Customer added additional wood piece to lower the height of the foot stopper. Normally the foot stopper is screwed on the top of the foot section. Customer was concerned foot stopper might hit the underside of the foot cabinet when the right and left sliders are brought in. So by adding a piece of wood to the underside of the foot section, he would then securely screw the foot stopper to the underside and effectively lower the foot stopper by 2 inches.

In the end, this was not so critical as the customer saw that when the both sides of the sliders were moved together, one side raised up and created a taller opening for the foot stopper. In any case, this is an optional solution.

This is with the foot stopper screwed to the underside of the foot section.

More detail of the foot stopper screwed to the underside of the foot section.

Bed on the left has “Straight Back Option” where the head and back raise in one motion. The bed on the right is the default setting where the head raises first, followed by the back. Side sleepers prefer this so the shoulder is not lifted with the head.

Notice that the side stoppers on the head section do not graze the window valence. This required a narrower adjustable bed frame.

Closer view of the side stopper not grazing the windows valence when the head section and back section are raised.

Opposite side showing again how the side stopper does not graze the window valence

Note where the holes were made in the lower frame to connect the transformer cable to the 120 V power outlet on the right and left of the bed.

Here both foot sections are lifted at the knees and the backs are also lifted. They can be independently adjusted.

Surreal and eye-catching display! Like no other adjustable bed!

Clever use of foam buffers to avoid chaffing shins on the side frame.

Beautiful bed sheets and clean installation!

Tim looks relaxed with back and foot sections raised.

Ready for a nap!
