Axel Bloom Adjustable Bed for Class A Motorhome 2018 Tiffin Phaeton QBH

Adjustable Bed:  Custom King Doppelflex MX2 TWO-MOTOR ADJUSTABLE SYSTEM (35″ x 78″). To lift platform for storage access, cut back external frame 29.5 inches. (Platform hinge location is 29 inches from headboard). This results in 48 inch section of the lower external frame available to be screwed onto platform using four L-shape brackets for each adjustable bed.  This platform (with the adjustable beds and mattresses) can then be raised normally to access the storage area. During installation, customer was concerned that the adjustable head section might graze the post when lifted. He moved the two adjustable sections closer together and slightly bent the side stoppers to increase the air gap between the side stoppers and the posts. (See photos below)

NOTE THAT SUPPLIED L-SHAPE BRACKET IS SECURED TO PLATFORM. THERE ARE FOUR OF THESE BRACKETS FOR EACH ADJUSTABLE BED TO ENSURE THE ADJUSTABLE SECTION WILL NOT SLIDE OFF WHEN THE PLATFORM IS RAISED TO ACCESS THE STORAGE COMPARTMENT.

BACK OF THE RIGHT ADJUSTABLE SECTION IS RAISED. NOTE THAT IN THE LUMBAR REGION, THERE ARE DOUBLE SLATS WITH FIRMNESS ADJUSTERS. BY MOVING THE COFFEE-COLORED ADJUSTERS FURTHER APART FROM EACH OTHER, THE DOUBLE SLATS BECOME FIRMER. FROM THE SOFTEST TO THE FIRMEST SETTING, THERE CAN BE AT LEAST A DIFFERENCE OF 30 PERCENT IN FIRMNESS. SO ONE CAN HAVE THE SAME MATTRESSES ON EACH SIDE BUT VARY THE SLEEP FIRMNESS EXPERIENCE FOR A CUSTOM SWEET SPOT. A VARIATION OF THIS FEATURE WOULD BE, FOR EXAMPLE, TO HAVE THE BACK DOUBLE SLATS SET FOR A FIRM SETTING (SLIDERS FAR APART) AND THEN PROGRESSIVELY MOVE THE TWO SLIDERS FOR EACH DOUBLE SLATS CLOSER TOGETHER SO THAT THE LAST SET ARE SIDE-BY-SIDE. THIS V-SHAPE WILL THEN OFFER A CUSTOM FEEL THAT STARTS FIRM AND ENDS WITH A SOFTER SUPPORT IN THE BOTTOM OF THE SPINAL CORD.

YOU CAN REMOVE THE SLATS BY UNHOOKING THE RIBBER HOLSTERS FROM THE PEGS THAT HOLD THE HOLSTERS IN PLACE. THIS WOULD MAKE IT EASIER TO INSTALL THE SIDE STOPPERS AS SHOWN BELOW.

DURING INSTALLATION OF THE SIDE STOPPERS, IT EASIER TO DO SO BY MOVING THE SLATS OUT OF THE WAY.

NOTE THE GAP BETWEEN THE SIDE STOPPER, WHEN IT RAISED, FROM THE SIDE PILLAR. TO INCREASE THIS AIR GAP, THE CUSTOMER SLIGHTLY MOVED THE TWO ADJUSTABLE SECTIONS CLOSER TOGETHER AND BENT THE SIDE STOPPER BY ABOUT 5 DEGREES.

THE SIDE STOPPER IS HOOKED INTO TWO HOLES THAT ARE PRE-DRILLED INTO THE ADJUSTABLE FRAME. TO SECURE THE SIDE STOPPER ARMS, YOU WOULD SCREW IN SUPPLIED SCREW INTO THE LOWER ARM OF THE SIDE STOPPER.
