Two independently operated 2 – motor custom Adjustable system (each 34 X 76 inch) with storage access in the center of the platform. Photos below show how customer accessed the storage by placing each adjustable on its side. Wife adjustable system was made so the head and back sections raised together in one motion. Husband’s side was left in default adjustable motion so head raised first, followed by lumbar section.

Overview of this very interesting installation.

Here are some picture from my installation of the split king frames.  I was able to make it work to gain access to the storage access door without having to modify the frames.  The process is a little cumbersome but the storage access door is only opened a few times a year.  In addition to storage, there are also some mechanical and electrical devices in this area that may need access if a problem arises.

To make it work, I installed hinges on the outside of the frame so the frames lift-up from the side and then secured up with a bungee cord or a prop.  These hinges keep the frames from moving horizontally and vertically (on the outside).  To hold the frames down to the platform, I added rubber latches on each end.

Here is the procedure to gain access to storage door;

  1.   Remove all bedding and mattresses
  2.   Remove both side stoppers at the head location
  3.   Disconnect all (4) latches on each frame at the foot and head locations
  4.   Raise each frame and secure with bungee cord or wood prop
  5.   Open storage access door.”
