AXEL BLOOM RV ADJUSTABLE BED 2021 NEWMAR VENTANA

RV Adjustable bed: Custom King Doppelflex MX2

Two independently operated 2 – motor custom Half – King Adjustable system ( 35.5 X 77 inch) screwed on platform in four places with L-shape brackets. Piano hinge to lift platform to access storage is 30 inches from the headboard. To continue to access the storage compartment, cut the external frame 31 inches from the back of the adjustable bed. The remaining external frame is screwed on the lower platform with four L-shape brackets for each adjustable bed that are pre – installed. This allows the lower platform to be lifted up, as per normal, to access the storage area, without the whole adjustable bed being lifted off the platform. For further information, click here: https://luxuryrv.axelbloom.com/pages/rv-installation-guide-for-adjustable-beds

In addition, both adjustable beds have Straight Back option where the head and back sections set up to move in one plane. (The default is to allow the head to raise up first without moving the lumbar/shoulder). Side sleepers love it but some people with GERD/Acid reflux , prefer to sleep on their backs and do not like the head to be tipped forward. The ‘Straight Back ” option addresses that desire for a flat head/back motion.

Started by placing the two adjustable frames to make sure we got the dimensions correct! This was not the final position but the quick test looked good.

Lined up the bottom of the beds with the platform. Noted that we had an inch between the frames in the center so the frames would not rub against each other in the center. Also wiggle room in case we needed it.

Hooked up the power and tested the adjustable controls. Looks good!

First run at locating the placement of the transformers and taking power from the left outlet via a surge protector. Decided to move transformers to be under the slats to make a clearer space for other use.

New location of the surge protector and transformers under the mid section of the adjustable bed.

Another photo of the locations of the transformers and surge protector.

Screwing in the side stoppers by first removing the slats which are resting over the holes that we pre-drilled on the inside of the adjustable frame.

Note that the side table was about 1.5 inches away from the platform. Important so the raised adjustable bed would not graze it when in raised position.

Lots of room to have placed the transformers here but it was decided to leave storage area clear and place the transformers under the slats in the lumbar region.

Similar good 1.5 inch clearance between the side table and the platform. Even though the edge of the platform was cut, decided to leave the mattress and adjustable bed without making the curve as regular bed sheets would be easier to find and looks cleaner than having a bed sheet bunched up at the edge. Also enough room to walk around.

Easy to access storage normally by lifting the platform normally. Stephen might add a stick that is secured by a hinge under the platform to secure the lifted platform. When the platform is raised, the stick would drop down (held in place under the platform with a Velcro strip) to the floor of the storage compartment.

We spent some time trying different settings of the pods using the red firmness inserts (see them under the third row of the pods ) to vary the back supports.

In the end, the default was selected with only one row of red firmness adjusters under the grey firmer pods. We provided red firmness inserts as spares in case they wanted to use them later.

Another perspective when the slider is moved completely out on both sides.

We have lift off! The beauty of having each person adjust the elevations as they each prefer!

Lynne was chief tester as we varied the firmness of the pod suspension.

Stephen is tall but the 78 inch long mattress was a good fit.

Playing with the different control settings

Lynne with her feet higher and Stephen resting flat.

Both with feet up!

Getting ready to lift the platform for storage access.

All the way up!

The struts were good enough to hold up the weight of the adjustable beds and mattresses. Approx. 250 pounds.

When the sliders are fully brought in, the end of the mattresses slipped under the cabinets. They were about 1/2 inch taller than the opening but pressing down on the end of the mattresses as the slider moved inwards allowed them to ease under the cabinets.

A wonderful couple about to embark on a new chapter of their lives. Thank you for sharing the adventure with us!
