RV Adjustable bed: Custom King Doppelflex MX2
Two independently operated 2 – motor custom Half – King Adjustable system consisting of two halves (each 34 X 79.5 inch) screwed on 72 X 80 inch platform in four places with L-shape brackets. There were window valences and side tables which grazed the side of the platform so we created an air gap of 1.5 inches on each side for clearance. This reduced the available width of the platform from 72 inches to 69 inches resulting in the narrower width for the adjustable beds.
The piano hinge to lift platform to access storage is 28 inches from the headboard. To continue to access the storage compartment, cut the external frame 29 inches from the back of the adjustable bed. The remaining external frame is screwed on the lower platform with four L-shape brackets for each adjustable bed that are pre – installed. This allows the lower platform to be lifted up, as per normal, to access the storage area, without the whole adjustable bed being lifted off the platform. For further information, click here: https://luxuryrv.axelbloom.com/pages/rv-installation-guide-for-adjustable-beds

Placed both adjustable sections side by side with one inch air gap between the inner frames to avoid rubbing each other and “wiggle room” for installation. Here we are starting with screwing in the L-brackets on the inside of the external frame on the platform.
We fold back the foot of the adjustable bed to provide more access for installation.
After screwing down the two adjustable sections, we raised the platform to access the storage compartment where we will connect the transformers for the motors to the extension cord.
After making a hole in the platform, we snaked through the two transformer cables and connected them to an extension cord which tapped power from one of the 120 V outlets beside the platform.
We used the 120 V outlet from the left side of the bed to connect the extension cord and snaked it into the storage compartment to connect to the transformer cables.
Note also how the side stopper was correctly placed about an inch from the side table so the side stopper would not craze the table when the bed is raised from the back.
The view when the lower platform is lifted by hand (normally) after first electrically raising the back.
The right side of the bed. Again you can see the side stopper at the head misses the side table.
Final touches to completing the wiring. The struts were capable of holding up the adjustable bed and mattress. It also had a safety locking mechanism when the struts were fully extended so the platform would not drop without releasing the locking mechanism.
Both sections fully installed.
